Wedding Day 411

WEDDING DAY 411

Let the glam begin! Here's a quick and simple checklist of things to know and have ready for before Chenese* (and assistant if needed) arrives to your getting ready location.

WORKING INSIDE A HOME

  • A large table or desk:  this will be the makeup artists workstation. So please have this cleaned off and ready BEFORE the makeup artist arrives. If this area is to be shared with a hairstylist, please allow equal space for the makeup artist.
  • Large window for natural light:  daylight is the best light for makeup application. Natural light allows the true color of ones skin tone to come through, which is perfect when applying the correct shade of foundation.
  • Electrical outlet(s):  for airbrushing equipment, fans, etc.
  • No pet(s):  a pet free work environment during bridal glam is highly important. So please have them stationed in another room until makeup is done.
  • Destination arrival:  some homes are difficult to find especially the house number located outside of the property. A marker or some form of indicator on the porch, yard, door or maibox will help the artist find the home with ease.
WORKING INSIDE A HOTEL ROOM / SUITE

  • A large table or desk:  this will be the makeup artists workstation. So please have this cleaned off and ready BEFORE the makeup artist arrives. If this area is to be shared with a hairstylist, please allow equal space for the makeup artist.
  • Large window for natural light:  daylight is the best light for makeup application. Natural light allows the true color of ones skin tone to come through, which is perfect when applying the correct shade of foundation.
  • A tall bar stool or high chair:  which can be requested at the hotel front desk.

  • Electrical outlet(s):  for airbrushing equipment, fans, etc.
TIMELINE

  • Hair & Makeup Schedule:  makeup application will be 30 minutes per person. And 30-45 minutes for the bride. Being that brides go last, please have a timeline made out as to who should go at what time. This helps bridal glam go smoothly. If a hairstylist will be on-site as well, please have a schedule as to who should get what first. However it's best that the bride has her hair in rollers during makeup application, leaving the stylist to finish it afterwards.
  • Adding people:  if someone is intered in getting makeup and they were not on the initial contract and schedule, their makeup may be done after everyone else is. But if time limits that from happening, said person may not be abel to.
TOUCH-UPS

  • Bridal party:  since touch-ups are not included in the price, it is available at an additional cost. Or products (lipgloss, lipstick, anti-shine products, etc.) can be available for purchse. Only if notified 2-3 weeks before the wedding.
FINAL PAYMENT & GRATUITY

  • Final payment:  can be paid off at any time but no later than 1 week prior to the wedding date. Which IS also listed on the invoice and contract. CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
  • Gratuity:  tipping is at your discretion. The standard rate for tipping makeup and hair is 15-25%.
"Daylight is the best light for makeup application.  It's the purest light source and the most unforgiving.  It will give you diffused ambient lighting preventing shadowing on the face which is perfect for when applying makeup, especially foundation!  Since the purpose of foundation (rather it's liquid, cream or powder) is to match the skin tone perfectly as much as possible, proper lighting is important.  And with the aid of daylight that will help tremendously."  - Chenese
